1.Update your computer
Updating your Pc or laptop not only enhances security but will also increase computer speed.Windows usually checks available updates and notifies users,but you can also check it manually.
Go to Start and click Settings or the settings icon. Then go to Updates & Security.Click on Check for updates.
2.Close Startup Programs
Programs that run on startup can slows down your pc.There are some apps which are important like antivirus but others may be unnecessary which affects the speed.
Right-click the Taskbar and select Task Manager or hit Ctrl-Shift-Escape to launch. Go to the Startup tab and you’ll be able to view each item that runs on startup.Disable unnecessary apps.It will reduce power and ram consumption and make pc faster.
3.Power settings
If you are using “Power saver” plan,it will slow down your computer.Choosing High performance power option will surely make your pc faster.
Go to Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Power Options.Under additional plans Select High Performance.
If you don’t see the option,Click on Create a Power Plan.Select High Performance and give a name to your new plan.Click Next and click on Create.
4.Adjust for best performance
Windows come with lots of graphics, including animations such as fading effects and flyouts. These help make the application appear more sleek and refined and contribute to a better overall user experience. On the other hand, they can also slow down your computer.
You can adjust you computer for best performance.This will surely make your pc faster.
Go to Control Panel > System and Security > System > Advanced system settings.Under Performance, click on Settings.There you can either select the option to let windows decide or click on Adjust for best performance.
5.Disk Cleanup
Windows comes with a built-in tool for cleaning up junk that accumulates over time.This will increase computer speed.To access the Disk Cleanup tool, go to Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools, and select Disk Cleanup from the list.
Here, you can select the types of files you want to get rid of and click OK. Then click Delete files.
6.Defragment your hard drive
You’ll then get an screen popup.
For Windows 7: Look for Disk Defragmenter using the search bar and select an HDD under Current status.
7.Uninstall Unwanted Programs
We often install huge apps and not use it for months.Removing unwanted space will clean up hard drive and thus increase computer speed.
To uninstall a program,Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Go through the programs and decide which one you don’t need and uninstall it. 
8.Disable Windows Search indexing
Windows 10 indexes your hard disk in the background, allowing you to search your PC more quickly than if no indexing were being done.But on slower PC’s,that use indexing will affect more,so it’s better to make your pc faster by turning off indexing.
Type Services on windows search box and open it.
Scroll down and Search for Windows Search.Right Click on it and select Stop.
9.Scan for malicious files.
Add SSD- While HDD offers more storage space in less price,it works slowly.You can buy an extra ssd which will make your pc faster.
Add RAM- If you perform many tasks simultaneously,you may need to upgrade your RAM.Adding a ram will maximize your multitasking performance and increase computer speed.
